Live her voice is heavily treated with reverb, chorus( doubling ), echo and now-a-days pitch correction. The reverb, echo and chorus are designed to disguise the fact that she can't sing on pitch. The real time pitch corrector should fix it if it's not too bad, however there are limits and when she is completely off the pitch the corrector can't decide if it shoudl go up or down, so it goes mad. Last time I heard her in the UK she sounded ok sometimes and then her voice sounded metailic as the pitch corrector try to fix the pitch problems. Botton line is she has a nice voice and look for the material, but she is NOT definately NOT a top quality singer and anyone who tells you she is clearly must be tone deaf.
It's a very different thing producing polished studio recordings where you can spend weeks geting a vocal right in sections. If she was a really good natural singer then all the effects used on her live vocals wouldn't be required and she wouldn't want her natural voice disguised by them. Draw your own conclusions from it! Finally, every really good backing singer they've had in BN has left( or been removed! ) becuase they all upstage the bosses wife/girlfriend! YOu can't count the Sisters, becuase they probably are her sisters anyway, they certianly look like her.

Oh.. So do you think it's all about Ritchie's love to her? Usually, he's the first to tell a musicians/singer's insuffinciency!

Re: Candice Night "Disappointed" with no DVD release
They sure do look like her, damn fine too!
Pitch controls are nothing new,Gillan used them during mkIIb days for Child In Time,he used a vocal splitter device hooked up to a box with pitch controls, this is why he sounded as if he was using backing tapes,as he has often been accused of by people in these very forums.
I know this for a fact because I've seen the equipment before, when I had all access to the Portland show in 1985.
The stage production manager,an old friend of mine(partner in Double T productions) showed it to me.I was at the venue for three hours prior to the concert.

There's obviosuly a relationship issue there, as anyone can see. But It also seems obvious that the whole thing probably amuses Ritchie totally. After all there he is selling albums, making money for from concerts, carying over his hard rock audience to his Medieval style and doing it all with a singer who he knows is not premier division, not even second division. All told it must have helped him prove his point. Basically ANY band with Ritchie in it regardless of the quality of his fellow musicians will sell records and attract some level of live support from loyal fans. De-facto Ritchie is the Man and he really is for sure! It seems really simple overall. The wheels would come off it if we all stopped buying the records, but that won't happen becuase we all want to hear Ritchie. Candice is just an aside, an adjunct and even if she was the best singer on the planet( and she certainly isn't ! ) it would be almost entirely irrelevant anyway !
The problem for Ritchie is that Candice and entourage are very firmly ensconced in the life of Ritchie, it's hard to see how he'd shift them without huge upheaval and cost. That is assuming he even wanted to anyway, which he probably doesn't !

Good point there, which also helps the conclusion that his team playing skills are and never were much to speak of,but I guess it's probably because he fancy's himself a team leader,it's too bad he can't see that there is no I in team when he has been in the company fellow brilliant musicians.

Re: Candice Night "Disappointed" with no DVD release
She wasn't too bad in Fulda, but I noticed that wierd Chorus and echo effect for sure. I'm not sure if they were using the pitch corrector then. But I know one thing, I was close to the stage when they did Writing on the Wall, there was a lengthy jam in the middle of it. When they came back to the chorus, she was so flat she must have been singing at 427 while the band was at 440. Echhh! Bad flat singing is the reason I don't listen to MK III Final Concerts and it's the reason I haven't bought the BN live album. Those twins are gorgeous and I also thought they were her sisters.

Don't forget that there's an "M" and an "E" in there though.

Yep you got it John, the twins are gorgeous,as is Candy( sometimes, well mostly! )BUT there's nothing worse than really flat, off pitch vocals. Given Ritchies amazing talent, there is just NO way that he doesn't realise she's off pitch! Ritchie has perfect pitch so it must drive him nuts every time he hears it. But I still think, somewhere in it all the whole thing amuses the darker side of his personality. He seems like a guy who'd really enjoy a game like that quite fully!
At the end of the day I guess who cares, we all only go to see/hear Ritchie anyway, so it doesn't matter overall. If Ritchie left then Blacmore's night wouldn't survive for 10 minutes, with any other guitar player. They be totally finished.

You must be a Shaq fan!
There still isn't an "I",and the "M"and"E" are in reverse succession with an "A" in the middle, which doesn't help his case
