I swear the 74 tour poster for the Boston gig has Aeroshit headlining over Purple.

Buncha bullshit! emoticon

I still find that hard to believe. Purple sold out Madison Square Garden that year and Aerosmith probably hadn't really gotten out of Boston yet. Is that show listed in Charlesworths book? I wonder.

It should be,that giglist is complete
up to that point as far as I know.

Speeking of giglist's have you seen the Rainbow giglist at Deep Purple.net
I can attest to one gig in their being false
it say's they played two night's at the Portland memorial
colliseum in 82 and it never happened cause I was
living in PO and very active in the concert scene
and trust me I doubt the show's were even booked,
Rainbow in 82 could not have filled such a bill
of two night's.
Nigel Young I believe also has Purple listed for Portland
Oregon in 87 and that show was never even booked I know this cause I had to travel to the Irvine Meadow's gig
in Cal just to catch them(yet another gig I was at where
a live album was part of)Nigel if that wasn't your list I apolagise but I did see it somewhere on the net.

According to the gig list from Charlesworth DP played in New Haven 03/14/74. The bogus poster on e-bay has Aerosmith headling and Deep Purple on there first US tour in New Haven on 03/14/74

Yes that is the poster I speak of
and it clearly places Aeroshit as the headliner.
Wht's up with that?

The Aerosmith '74 poster is a fake.

There are loads of errors in the Charlesworth gig list.

If you get anything more concrete on this, drop me an email, details on the site.

It was Portland, Maine.

I think the whole thing about the "Aerosmoth over Purple" thing is covered in the band bio "Walk This Way" by Stephen Davis. If I remember correctly - and I'm too lazy to go get the book right now - those posters were put out by fans of Aerosmith ( "The Blue Army") and their own self-styled promo man, Ray Tabano - who was also an original member of Aerosmith 'til he was dumped in favor of Brad Whitford. I don't believe those posters were "official" in the sense that they were put out by the concert promoter or any of the bands' "official" management teams.
That said, I will say that at that time Aerosmith were one hot fuckin' act, and co-headlining with Purple was certainly well within their power, especially in their stronghold - New England. From '71 through to around '77/'78, Aerosmith were one helluva show!

I didn't know the running back for the Carolina Panthers was literate.
