Not to my knowledge at least. But you really could have had a reason to fear for your health.
Everytime I see "Do You Close Your Eyes" on the Rockpalast ´77 video I fear for the people in the front row, you know!

Yea WATCH OUT did they Close Their Eyes?
Ritchie must have had some type of lock in cord
when he did that, coming dangerously close to
the people in the front row.

I urge you to watch the last 10 minutes of California Jam.
That's acuatly my least favorite part of California Jam, because on that VHS Ritchie play the guitar of my dreams: a seventies Fender Strat with natural body and maple neck and I don't enjoy to se it broken into very thiny pieces . If you're going to smash your guitar up, please don't take a Strat!!!
But all the same, Ritchie is a great preformer and I wish there was some way for me to travel back in time to the seventies to see them live. Oh !@#$, I was born in the wrong decade!!

Re: Morse Better Than Blackmore? You're ' Aving a Laugh.
It should be well known that Ritchie
had his roadies peice them back together
with glue so he could bust them atleast twice.
He would also often use imitation or
prop strat's,you could usually tell
by looking at the tuning head and
see that it didn't say stratocaster.
They also souded worse than the originals.

To Ritchies hair
Yes
himself referring to the tragic intanglement
story when he lost a spot of his hair
getting it caught in the tuning knobs.
Also when he tossed up the strat and on the way down breaking his finger.
To Ritchies strat
These are the wonderful stories that make
your posts so damn interesting.
You lucky sob.

Re: Morse Better Than Blackmore? You're ' Aving a Laugh.
I first saw Ritchie do his demolition job live on a strat at Ingliston, Edinburgh in the early 80s - no risk to me though, I was too far back!! (I had been right at the edge of the stage with a lady friend during Rose Tattoo's set, but the crush became health-threatening before Rainbow came on, and we had to make a getaway). As far as I can remember, Ritchie was quite animated that night, climbing up onto a speaker stack, the better to smash the guitar against the edge of a Marshall!
Can't quite see Steve going down that route!
