Morse's chugging version of Perfect Strangers is brilliant!
Just to offer some balance.
I've always liked Morse's chugging version of Perfect Strangers. An absolute master stroke!
The track was always crying out for something different to be done with it live. I love it, but if your agenda is to love to criticise then critics will do what critics love to do won't they.

RB's treatment of PS live was often disappointing. I agree that SM improved how he plays this track over the last few years.

Re: Morse's chugging version of Perfect Strangers is brilliant!
The spirit and the feel of the song was lost when Morse turned up the distortion and added silly whammy bar antics over it. He pretty much killed the majesty of this classic.
Perhaps he doesn't like to play the old stuff and that's why he drowns everything with that noise. He plays with great variety on the studio albums he's on. Wrong Man is a good example of dynamics, he does the big riff, then backs off a little to give Gillan some room. Paicey and Glover are keeping it going, with Airey adding little things. The guitar then returns with the riff for a great effect.
Too bad Morse doesn't demonstrate the same kind of sensibility on the old material, and especially on a track like PS. What set PS apart for run of the mill hard rock in 1984 is gone. Now it's just another noisy guitar piece.

What a load of old rubbish.
As many have said, its been greatly improved, and we like it loads.

No, no, no I have come to understand that the purpose of this forum is to critisize the current line-up (Morse in particular), worship Blackmore and be very agressive against those who think differently. So my task in all this is to be one of those whom the Blackmore worshippers can turn their agression to. Or has all of this changed suddenly, Rezi?
Well, for once I'm speechless.
Sadly, that's because it's the true.

No, no, no (to quote my friend) I said it as pure humour - that why it had
