Re: Morse Can't Play Perfect Strangers

Speaking of PS, I was listening to a bunch of old albums the other day and noticed a track that a very similar organ intro to that of Jon's in PS. The track in itself was very different. I'll have to go back and check out which track and by whom it was.

EDIT: It is Peter Bardens' Homage to the God of Light, from his solo album The Answer (1970).

The album isn't brilliant, except for Peter Green's guitar work on the title track, and indeed Bardens' Hammond work on the Homage... track.

I think Perfect Strangers is one of the Blackmore tracks where Morse really shines.

NEC 1993 - Perfect Strangers - most famous lineup:

Montreux 2006 - Perfect Strangers - current lineup:

I can´t help myself, I enjoy current version faaaar more, than original and I´m gonna say WHY:

- 1st - introduction of Don Airey - I think best introduction for Perfect Strangers ever professionaly recorded!

- 2nd - income of Steve Morse - JUST BRILLIANT! I love that, precious, full sound and it goes through the whole song.

- 3rd - I totally LOVE that Steve Morse minisolos between verses (1:31 - 1:41, 2:33 - 2:43).

In really simple characteristic: Steve Morse MADE from Perfect Strangers "stadium anthem" with HUGE phenomenal sound... Noone else!

Stadium anthems are best left to bands like Bon Jovi.

When Mk2 did it, the song breathed. Morse suffocates the song.
