The early 70's were the glory days of hard rock.

We all have songs in the back of our mind which are deeply and tighly connected to a specific memory of our life. Each time we hear the song, the memory comes back at the surface. Any Deep Purple song fitting that description?

Smoke on the Water (of course) - '72 or 73' (not sure) a high school dance in the Church basement. Was played more than a few times. I remember watching kids trying to figure out how to dance to it which you can't really.

Trying To Get To You - the most memorable 45 in the stack of Elvis RCA singles I got from a friend of the family in 1971, and I think of it every time I see the stack when I open the chest it's in.(I've been offored a lot over the years for these records, I'm told a few of them are near priceless to Elvis collectors... they go nowhere and will be passed down)
Seeing Elvis in concert doesn't leave the brain forever either it comes and goes, but when it comes it's vivid and chilling.

Summer of 76 stands out too, I shall take that one to the grave.
