saw Van Halen last night in Tampa
Not their biggest fan but I went to see them anyways (what the hell it was for free - as my buddy paid for it!!)
Pretty good show all around. Eddie was in fine form and proved why he is one of the guitar greats of all time (just like his idol Ritchie!!) FYI - EVH has always admired RB even if he doesn't sound off to often on this)
Roth was adequate and Alex Van Halen impressed the hell out of me!! Great drummer. Question for the board is AVH better than IP? I think Alex has been just as good and still has the chops - maybe moreso than Paice at this point in their careers. They are relatively close in age.
BTW
Eddie played a snippet of Smoke towards the end of the Cradle will Rock. The smoke riff sounded pretty cool - the crowd gave a big cheer when he launched into it as well.

I just read Eddie and Wolfgang's interview in Guitar World. Sounds like his son is fitting right in with the band. How did he do in your opinion?

When I saw VH back in November,he didn't miss a beat and if I hadn't known of the Michael Anthony departure,my ears wouldn't have been able to detect a loss of thump or crunch. He was impressive, for sure!CHEERS

It's good to see that EVH has got rid of his alckohol problem. Let's hope it will last.
I wish them the best of luck in the future, and hope that they will keep this line up together for the rest of their career.
...and come to Europe guys

He did very good. No real drop-off in my opinion. He nailed the intro into Running with the Devil. How great is that for Eddie? Being able to have your son play in the band and spending time with him, when normally he wouldn' be able to.

There are rumours of A European tour later in the year. Expect to see something official in the next month.
