Re: When a Blind Man Cries...interesting video
The best way to show how bad you consider the current Deep Purple line-up would be to forget about it. Stop posting here and re-orient your interest to old MkII records.
You could also open a wedding church in Las Vegas: "Get a Purple Wedding Special for 55$" with the MkII(a) music and look-a-likes. That's what some people did when they refused to believe that "Elvis had left the building..."

Elvis' band has been doing that for over a decade now. Let's hope that no other band in the world ever will do the same. It's pathetic, but I guess that is what happens when you try to recreate the past...
How hypocritical? Gillan and Glover have been touring in a Blackmore tribute band with a southern rock guitarist for more than a decade. Now, that's pathetic!
Historic fact for you, Reborn: Gillan and Glover were part of writing and creating the music they're still playing. Fx there's a picture inside the Machine Head booklet of Gillan writing the lyrics to Smoke On the Water, and you surely know that it was Glover who came up with the title? Blackmore may have come up with most of the riffs (not Speed King- Glover did), but it was those five induviduals that created the music as a five piece unit.
Blackmore was a master at creating riffs, the others were masters at "building" those riffs into great songs. Together, as a unit, they created great music. Same thing with Rainbow. Blackmore came up with most of the riffs, the band did the rest as a unit.
Blackmores Night should give you more than enough proof that Blackmore isn't able to create such great music all by himself. In BN he and his girlfriend write all the songs (mostly by rewriting older songs), and they create crap!
Steve Morse may not be the most obvious choice to replace someone like Blackmore in an english hard rock band, but Purple has never gone for the obvious! And... Steve has mostly done a great job!!! Even Blackmore can see and admit that. I know you can't, but that's just the glue...
Long live MKVIII!!!!!

Blackmore was the primary songwriter not Gillan or Glover, but I agree that there's no one who can massacre his music like Morse!!!

I tend to agree with that to an extent, but I was very surprised by the current line-up's version of Lazy on the recent Montreux DVD. Better than any 1984-1993 version!

No Reborn, Blackmore was not! Blackmore came up with short riffs and chord progressions. The rest got done by the band. That doesen't make anyone a primary songwriter.
You are rewriting history making up lies that you yourself have started to believe in. Pathetic!

Sometimes we get dependant/expectant of certain things due to past experiences, or rather, our expectations become high. However, because of change, these things that we had high expectations for can no longer reach the benchmark. It sometimes takes time to learn from our mistakes and it has taken me 4 studio albums and several shows by MK-Smiley to realize that it's just not DEEP PURPLE. Well that's not true, I realized that it's not DEEP PURPLE the moment I heard Ted The Load of Crap, yet I still had some kind of blind faith that someday this band would return to musical glory. Instead, I keep getting a halfassed Blackmore Tribute band that's making a feeble attempt at holding together the past with an egomaniac leader of the band who insists on keeping the legendary name alive to suit his own self indulgent dillusions.
So, maybe I have been a glutton for punishment, but no more.
Oh dear lord, blah blah blah blah blah
Is that you beating up on poor Mr Ed? I guess it's ok, after all.... a horse is a horse.
Or maybe that's Gillan desperately attempting CPR on the dead horse known as Deep Purple.

It's absolutely pathetic how revisionist Morse supporters like you disparage Blackmore to rationalize in your own twisted minds the continued existence of the current lineup. Blackmore was the primary songwriter in Deep Purple and Rainbow as he is in Blackmore’s Night today.
There are many great songs on the Blackmore’s Night CDs. It’s the arrangements and singing that sucks. There aren’t any great songs on the Mark Morse albums unless songs as intricate as Mary had a Little Lamb turn you on as such mindless nonsense is the sort Gillan and Glover are capable of writing.
Hey awiddlebored, a picture is worth a thousand words and yours accurately sums up the Morse or Everything Crappier than Everything Else era absolutely perfectly!

Everything Crappier than Everything Else . That was great!
Do I have your permission to print that on a Deep Purple T-Shirt with a picture of Smiley with his toneless Morsified guitar and ole Pumpkinhead in his pj's in agreement on how to muck up Deep Purple?
How about that picture of Gillan upside down (or the one where he's taking a dump on the counter) with a load of crap oozing from his ass towards his mouth (or from his mouth depending on which picture I use) as he politely asks his homo buddy in a bullet "can we make 'Everything Crappier than Everything Else'..cough..gurgle,,gurgle..catharrghhh I have a cold"?

Sorry Reborn YOU are wrong!Have you seen the Making of MH DVD at all?TMIB quite clearly states himself that he would come up with the initial riffs and take them to the band and both Gillan and Glover would then take the initial ideas and turn them into songs and of course Lord and Paice also added thier own input ie solos and runs etc the compositions were group compositions not simply Blackmore compositions.I do agree though that BN have many fine songs
