9 years of Morse powered Purple

This November is the 9th year of Steve Morse as Deep Purple guitarist and it seems that he will reach his 10th with Purple.

He joined Purple in November 1994.

Congratulations to Steve Morse.

And in another few months (5?6?) he'll have the distinction of being the longest serving guitarist (for a consectutive time span) in the band's history. Whatever his detractors may say about him, at least stability appears to be a strong trait of his!

I'll second that one. Not a bad guitarist either.

Yep, I agree that he brings stability, even though I have not heard 'Bananas', in my opinion 'Purpendicular' is the highlight of his career as Purple guitarist.

"Purpendicular" was certainly a fine way of him introducing himself to the world as Purple's new guitarist, full of some excellent melodic playing. But I always thought that "Abandon" was a better example of his abilities. I'm in the minority, I know...

Hey Ed, in my case "Purpendicular" is the album that made me respect his ability and put him on a high pedestal as a guitarists, but "Abandon" has done the 'reverse' for me, but I guess each has each own opinion and taste.

3 CD's and ten years of the same wibbling solo put to every song? The ideas are really flowing now eh? You may call it stability, I call it milking a dying lady bug. (notice my sensitivity towards you feelings MrEd)

Hey Brian
I say it's better than putting out 3 Abandon's(substandard)
and Purpendicular and Bananas.
You know they have been mostly touring.
And what about
LATO
TA
RAH
That makes five official releases and one official bootleg,
that's a fair amount of work without a big break to speak of.
I don't care if you consider live album's to be
side project fodder.
They still took time to put together.
Combined with all the touring it's actually by far the
most active they have been since Mark2a.

With Ritchie they were lucky to get an album out every 3 years after THOBL.Then they wouldn't even speak to one another for ages.
That's not healthy for a band that is supposed to be together.
