That's something that definetly applies to thecurrent line up of DP IMHO. Heck, of the current Mk only Ian Paice was a part of events DP related in '68

If they'd been together as a band for 40 consecutive years, I could understand it.

Tours take a long time to organize and market. So unless something is already arranged, don't get your hopes up.

I suspect a S.American and Far East tours as suggested by Don and maybe an album recorded at the end of 2008 but maybe not even released until 2009.

Of course Deep Purple will do something next year. The problem is that they have gone on for 10 years longer than they should have done, just like Status Quo. And, just like Status Quo, they will tour to give their most loyal fans a good ol' knees up.....playing Machine Head yet again. Just like Status Quo, Deep Purple have become a novelty act but will continue to pull in whatever money they can by whatever means, ie...pre ordered concert seat packages at £££'s.

40 years of Deep Purple and nothing's announced.

Unless you have some inside knowledge from the band's planners? emoticon

Yeah. I can see it in Ian Gillan's eyes. I can feel it in his voice...

That's exactly why anniversaries are needed...

but Steve Morse is on the verge of quitting.

How do you know?

This is an educated guess. I've read I think about 20 different interviews with Steve Morse in the last 3 months, and every single one is him complaining about the following: Not being able to have enough time with his family, not being able to do a solo project, not having time to rest, not playing any of his songs during the live show etc... Complaining in public is the first step to quitting. He has also said things like "And quitting isn't really an option right now". I just get the feeling because I've never seen this attitude from him before.

Can't say, but it's a valid source. We'll wait and see what happens.

If that happens, they'll have a quite busy 2008 just with touring; Aisa, N-Am and South Am. Little time for recording...

I think they've said they plan to record mid-late 2008, which would probably leave room for about 5 months of touring-probably a month in South America, 2 months in Asia(with break) and finish off with another couple of months in NA. As for the recording, I don't know if that'll even happen or not. I'm not sure they can stick it out for another album and 2 year tour. That would carry them to mid-2010 and I don't know if Steve will hold on that long. Time will tell!
