I don't blame Gillan for not wanting to sing those, but I've always hoped that there'd be a mid show instrumental medley of great Purple riffs and melodies. 1) And The Address/Wring That Neck 2) Grabsplatter 3) parts of Flight of the Rat 4) parts of The Mule 5) parts of Rat Bat Blue 6) and instrumental highlights from the Coverdale/Hughes era. ...while Gillan rests his voice or hides under the piano for 20 minutes! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ormandy)Sun, 18 Nov 2007 21:59:16 +0000 Re: Loosen My Strings cliphttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407580,from=rss#post407580https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407580,from=rss#post407580quote:TomekKDP wrote: Of course he is stuggling during the horus which is bulid on relatively high notes, but even if you listen to the studio version its clear that he was singing it on his "last breathe" back then. Taking into account the conform you have in the studio and technical abilities to polish the final product he probably also would not get much better live in 1996. Hovewer as Gillan's voice tone did not changed much since 1996 (in fact since 1984) comparing to period 70 - 80, It assume that he is now comfortable in the lower register but he can't cope with high notes and is loosing breathe. Example of this is also KAYBD. His last studio recordings also prove this. Having your voice crack six times whilst singing a chorus can not be fixed in the studio. Gillan's low voice is good, high voice is garbage right now. His low voice has consistently gotten better since 1996, and his high voice has consistently gotten worse since 1996.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BGGLP)Sun, 18 Nov 2007 21:51:41 +0000 Re: Loosen My Strings cliphttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407578,from=rss#post407578https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407578,from=rss#post407578  NICEnondisclosed_email@example.com (JohninNJ4you)Sun, 18 Nov 2007 20:23:10 +0000 Re: Loosen My Strings cliphttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407516,from=rss#post407516https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407516,from=rss#post407516Great to see them do some songs from the best record since Perfect Strangers... I'm stating my opinion When Gillan has learned to handle the songs he can go out to the paying audience and improve them from time to time in another good way. That's what I call professional, fair and not boring for fans including fans who travel from concert to concert. Then they are really "dangerous" (so far it's possible in their age) 'cause unexpected things happen. And of course one new song isn't enough to be "dangerous". nondisclosed_email@example.com (MrsSnap)Fri, 16 Nov 2007 10:38:46 +0000 Re: Loosen My Strings cliphttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407449,from=rss#post407449https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407449,from=rss#post407449quote:MrsSnap wrote: It might be you didn't understand what I mean. A teacher has to prepare his lessons. A singer his songs! But "real fans" want the band to be "dangerous" again and take risks (just read all the Morse v. Blackmore threads if you don't believe me ). How can they be dangerous and take risks if they've tested all the songs in advance? I don't think Lord and Blackmore prepared all their long 70s jams in advance (or they wouldn't be jams ) nondisclosed_email@example.com (David Meadows)Fri, 16 Nov 2007 10:22:38 +0000 Re: Loosen My Strings cliphttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407448,from=rss#post407448https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407448,from=rss#post407448I think you dont like "colour" or tone of his voice. I think that he will sing it very differently on each show now until he´ll find a great way how to sing it. This song is definately NOT out of his vocal abilities now! As singer he´s now far better than was in Purpendicular era. Only ignorants (I´m sorry to say that, but if you compare recordings from current era and Purpendicular shows, his voice is clearly better) who dont listen to latest recordings will doubt about it. I wonder if Ian G. is dissapointed that he can't hit notes when only ten years ago he could. Add to that the fact that he thinks his voice is 10X better now than it was then. He just seems to get tired and only sing half verses now, it's weird. Like he needs to recoop after each note.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BGGLP)Thu, 15 Nov 2007 20:49:26 +0000 Re: Loosen My Strings cliphttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407415,from=rss#post407415https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p407415,from=rss#post407415Sure thing!
