Will somebody remaster CTTB first...

Stormbringer remaster is taking us to 40th anniversary if they can't find the master then...for God sake, work on the COME TASTE THE BAND remaster album.

It doesn't matter if it comes first, will somebody tell those people. emoticon

Oh, I just can't help weighing in on this one... finally baited!

All CD issues of CTTB sounds like sh*t. Or so I thought! Boy was I wrong.
The other day I happened to check out the Japanese MiniLP CD that I bought a few years ago, being the anally retentive completist anorak saddo that I am, but never actually listened to. Anyway, I coded the disc in Apple Lossless (full CD quality), put on good headphones and WOW! Even if the CTTB masters are lost (allegedly?), this disc is pretty close to perfection, I must say. I could hear all sorts of things going on which I never heard before (and this is the album I've listened to the most in my entire life!), especially the utterly great bass playing and the cool, understated keyboards. It also includes the single edit of YKOM without listing it, as an added bonus.

Very highly recommended for all MkIV fans while we hopefully wait for something even better!

It starts with being a Japanese product, but listening to my copy, I have to agree, it's just the good work they do in transfering, somehow they bring out things the others don't, and they always sound brighter too.
They also bring out the best in the mastering of the product, whatever the format.
They are the best by far at manufacturing recordings.

(they certainly like everything louder than everything else) emoticon

Not quite, I prefere domestic auto makers, and they also make a lot of crappy stuff there, but records tapes and CD's are one of their specialties, for some reason, and I'm glad.

Glenn Hughes has terrible luck with masters. The Master of Hughes Thrall was sadly taped over a few years ago and lost. Tragic.

What's wrong with that album? I've always loved it (apart from the screaming between the songs)! emoticon

Re: Will somebody remaster CTTB first...

The mix is a bit poor. The Japanese broadcast of the time had a proper mix,and the set actually smokes most of the time.I was just reading the Phoenix Rising liner notes and they were of a mystery as to why it was filmed;it was to show on Japan's version of In Concert (Rockupation?) with American style sweetening cheers and everything.
The big mystery was when This Time Around was released, they said the guitar was low on it because the signal was weak. When you have multitracks, you can mix any track up to the top,so the fault lies with the person doing the mixing. The MIJ 3 cd set had the same problem with Ritchie, and he certainly wasn't having ANY "problems" on those shows.LOL!
