I think DP made an album called... Bananas?
After seeing the '07 UK set list, why don't they play any tracks from Bananas? I think Silver Tongue was a brilliant song, I wish they played it live. I Got Your Number was a song in which they could show their skills (DA and SM). I think not playing any songs from Bananas is disrespect to their own effort. Plus it's done by the very same lineup there is today (OK, I lost track of the Mark numbers). I'd prefer listening to some different songs from DP as different from the very tired Fireball. It makes sense when I see the Scandinavian Nights video, it's fresh and it's way ahead of its time. Anyways, i think it's a shame...

Because Deep Purple are a nostalgia act and the majority of their audience want to hear the old songs (apparently)
So it's out fault they don't play much of the newer material.

It's unfortunate that DP don't play songs from their more rescent albums once they've got a newer one out.
The only post-reunion albums that have had songs regularly used since their release are Perfect Strangers and Purpendicular and there have only been two songs off each of those albums that have been played live.

I think its partly down to the management's policy of booking co-headlining tours with the likes of Lynyrd Skynnyrd, Peter Frampton, and now Styx. They have to assume that half the crowd are new to the band, and so have to rely on "classic" tracks - ie well known ones.
I loved it when they played the Astoria last year - smaller venues with one support act pleeeease

I don't think the thing about the half of the crowd being new to the band should take role in choosing songs for the setlist. If they're new to the band, that means they do not follow the hub, this runboard forum, or dime, or even the highway star. That means the new ones won't have an idea about what the setlist's going to be.

Re: I think DP made an album called... Bananas?
It's about time to realize that the average man or woman in the audience does not have a single clue about the "odd" or "rare" DP songs.
It's all about SOTW, HS, BN, PS and a couple of other songs. A very small portion of the crowd consists of devoted followers.
DP is no different from any other "classic" act. AC/DC plays 4-5 songs from Back in Black each and every show. H*ll, even Tom Jones can't skip Delilah!

Ur Rght. It's frustr8ing.
Acutally, it's not internet language. It's the old telex/telegram language reinvented due to the appearance of SMS. People are lazy writers, it's very difficult to write Smoke on The Water, when one doesn't know where the keys on the keyboard are located.

Yes! It takes them 5 years to make.
They decided to name that album BANANAS when Steve Morse play guitar.
