Re: A 2nd Chance...
I've always liked this album. It was made to be played as loud as possible.

Re: A 2nd Chance...
The drum sound is awesome
it was recorded in a different room seperate from
the band(say's Darrin Shneider)
that's the best thing about Abandon.IMHO
Oh and what about Jon's solo in Jack Ruby?

Not sure what you been smoking RAT, but I will have $30 of what you been inhaling. There was a reason, Blackmore wrote the song No Second Chances on Shadow of the Moon, it was right after he listened to the Abandon album.
Hahahaha i was smoking nothing! but is this a documented fact that blackmore wrote No Second Chances after listening to abandon? I would have thought Blackmore wouldnt like to listen to Deep Purple nowadays.

Re: A 2nd Chance...
It's a bit boring, and it lacks a sparkle. It just plods along at a slow pace, and it has the worst album opener and album closer in the history of Deep Purple! Morse's solos are uninspired and Lord underused. A couple of good tracks, a few dull ones, and some terrible ones. After the lively and inspired Purpendicular, this was a real disappointment. Thankfully, Bananas has changed all that.

I'll bet you liked it for a while
until it got old from playing too much.

Re: A 2nd Chance...
Never liked Abandon much. I've tried. But even on first listen, it disappointed me. Watching the Sky, Fingers to the Bone and maybe Evil Louie were excellent. Seventh Heaven was pretty good. Don't Make Me Happy, Any Fule Kno That and Bludsucker were terrible, and the rest was unmemorable.
Love Bananas though. That's got the sparkle!
