Live In Montreaux - 1969

Anyone have the official release yet? Listening to it at napster - Blackmore's solo on CIT is the closest in tone to the version on In Rock I've heard yet... I think the album's an import stateside, yet - definitely worth getting...

Yeah, I have the original Sonic Zoom release.

Get this one, it's an amazing show, and the most important DP archive release since Stockholm '70 in the late 1980s!

I think Blackmore's solo on Child in Time isn't really great (for Blackmore of course), the beginning seems to me like a plane that's riding but can't leave the ground (well, can't explain it better than that in English !). When he's at least able to leave the ground, it becomes better !

And it's of course a great live album, enssential for every fan, it shows the band at it's beginning, with an interesting version of Kneel and Pray before it became Speed King, and the only known version of Kentucky Woman by Mk2 !

I think he had tuning problems on that one - takes him a while to get going, but he does take off - finally!

I have this in my car right now and was listening to Mandrake Root and got a smile on my face at the 4:00 mark when Jon started playing the melody line of The Mule...which wouldn't see release for another two years! I've had this release for years and it took me this long to notice it... emoticon

I'll have to check it out again since I never spotted it! I remember anyway Blackmore playing that melody in Stockholm 1970 (Scandinavian nights)

Yes, if memory serves me well. It's been a long time since I listened to those two gigs; good excuse to revisit them. Of course, George Harrison inspired the whole song a few years earlier.
