Re: Best Purple Bass Line
Roger is hands down my favorite bassist for Purple, but the most inventive bass line in Deep Purple history has to be in "Listen, Learn, Read On".

Re: Best Purple Bass Line
To be honest - I think that Roger´s best bassplaying is in of All Night Long..... I always thought that Ritchie´s simple but effective riff is best part of the song, but actually isnt - Roger´s bass is stunning in this track! Roger is similar type of bassist like John Deacon - hidden in shadow of others, but when you listen to his bass with focus - you are stunned.
But from DP catalog - there actually are couple of songs which I do admire because of Roger´s bassline:
Rapture Of The Deep (I´m actually shocked this one was not mentioned yet!), Loosen My Strings, Hard Loving Man, No No No, Pictures Of Home.... but I have to admit that I loved his added live jewels (as Stargazer-like bassline added to The Battle Rages On during Morse´s period).
