Same here, I only like a couple of songs and as soon as the album is done I totally forget it. I loved Bananas and everything else before it. This is without a doubt the most disappointing DP album I have ever bought. I played it a couple of months ago to see if I would change my mind but sadly a year later my opinion remains disappointed. Bananas was miles ahead of this.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. I have tried to like this album. But other than a couple songs, it just doesn't work. Bananas was way ahead of this one.

However, it's not the biggest disappointment, as I go into any new DP album today with reservations. The biggest disappoint for me will always be Stormbringer.

Why.. you should have faith in the mighty Purple.

Stormbringer is a great album just like ROTD, just shows how different taste can be.

Thanks god.

I feel almost exactly the same way about it that I felt the first time I listened to it. I like Wrong Man, ROTD and Clearly Quite Absurd. The rest of the album ranges from bland to horrible.

Often I change opinions about albums. ALbums like Fireball and Who DO We Think We Are didn't do much for me the first time I heard them. Later they've grown to all time classics. Other albums goes the opposite way.

Rapture Of The Deep was something on it's own. I liked it the first time I heard it, and that opinion hasn't changed much. That's a bit unusual, I don't experience that very often. It's all a matter of taste, I guess.

I do, to a degree. But I am also realistic about what a band at this point of their career is going to produce. I don't hate ROTD, but of the four post-Blackmore albums, I think it's the weakest.

In 1974, I was a 16 year old kid, running out to get the latest album from my favorite band. I open it up, put it on, and listen. And am like, what is this? Where is Deep Purple? This isn't them. The sound production was weak, thin. The songs were not very good. I was disappointed then, and over 30 years later, am still disappointed.

I was 15 in '74 when I got Stormbringer, and was slightly dissapointed with the album but most of the songs worked for me.
And I think the remaster will be very good.

Some of Ritchies guitar playing on this album is so good.

Didn't care for Stormbringer at first. Part of why I don't like to ever be critical of any DP release.

DP should go on Saturday Night Live or does that not get watched anymore?

I run into so many people that don't even know that they are still together.

It is sad that anything they do doesn't make the top 10.

It just shows how quality doesn't rise to the top with out some major marketing.

Last time DP got decient promotion in my area was with Slaves and Masters.

Still remains one of my favorite albums. A warm sounding album with excellent musicianship. I personally think it's their best from a songwriting perspective. Between Purp, Bananas and ROTD these are three albums that rival the big three.
