Blackmore quotes
This may have been done before, but....
http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/r/ritchie_blackmore.html
--- "I play the way I do because it allows me to come up with the sickest sounds possible. That's the point now isn't it?"
Jeff Beck

Re: Blackmore quotes
"I had given up the guitar between '75 and '78. I completely lost interest. I was sick of hearing other guitar players and I was tired of my tunes."
When he did some of his best studio work and his best best live performances?

Re: Blackmore quotes
Perhaps he could forsee how Blackmore's NIght would really sound when he said this :-
"You may think you sound fabulous on stage, but when you hear yourself played back on record, it's disasterous most of the time. "

"What's the point with re-releasing an album? The original sounded good, why change something about it?"
Hmmm...so what's the point with re-recording tracks then?

Re: Blackmore quotes
Sorry, this isn't RB, but related. In Jerry Bllom's RB autobiography, there's a quote from Tony Carey that really cracked me up (and will be gasoline for the "nihilist camp"...): [About Blackmore's cello) "He just lugged it around and posed with it. I never heard him play a note."

Love it ! Maybe the Cello was just there as part of a marketing image, what do you think, perhaps, maybe, or definately !!!
No prizes for guessing what I think!

LOL! Most likely that is the case...I mean, Blackmore even said he gave up playing the guitar when he was supposed to have been playing the cello. I remember a quote where he said something about he was putting the guitar in a corner and didn't touch it, because he was so bored with it. But didn't he record an album and went on tour in the same time?

Re: Blackmore quotes
NIJI: I think the more you see/read of what Blackmore has said over the years( and when you think it probably isn't all that much really!) the less beleivable it all becomes. Things that at the time perhaps seemed credible and doubtless were accepted at the time are of course neither credible, nor frequently even true! He contradicts himself all over the place and frequently reverese his postion on things a lot. He also obviously delivers the "story" as concocted at that time and then next time fogets what the "story" was last time, so you get something different. LIke you wrote before "an actor just playing the game".......pity he's now really lost the script !!
