I actually watched this show the other night (finally got a good copy), and while RB doesn't do the fist pump or play on his knees, his playing is superior to LBTE in every way. In fact, the only thing that favours LBTE is nostalgia - I must have watched it a hundred times as a kid!

Ah, I'm so glad that I got to see Rainbow twice on the Stranger In Us All Tour, '95 and '96. The first concert was absolutely amazing. The second was partly good, but due to technical problems it wasn't a great show. Blackmore cut it short because they weren't able to go on stage before around midnight.
I hope that there will be a DVD coming out from that tour, sooner than later...

Me too. According to Doogie, they filmed at least one show in the South American tour of summer 1996.

Didn't he say that they've filmed at least 5 shows?

Over 12 years later... any confirmation whether any of these other concerts were professionally filmed?

Remember getting this back in the day and thinking wow what happened to Blackers?? he used to be a great guitarist .Never a fan of JLT era Rainbow utter poppy crap IMHO, i didn't like Rondinellis drum sound much either, Doogie era Rainbow was vastly superior thankfully.

I've tried to get the LBTE DVD but I can't find a version compatible with the DVD players here in the States.

Re:
Still, if you compare Blackmore's 1982 performance to the recent dates with Rainbow there's no real comparision. He was a fantastic player back in the old days.

that's true, though even then many compared his JLT era playing very unfavourably to that of the Dio/early DP eras.
