Could you go into a bit more detail? Review the "new" tracks?

Actually I was not that interested after hearing the normal first Kill The King, Mistreated, and CtR. Always love M and CtR but as I have heard them before i have not listened to them more than once. The rest is the normal MoTSM, Stargazer and SIS. Stargaser was maybe new. Not sure. I prefer to listen to the normal bootlegs from Japan during that period. They are better performance and sound. CtR was the same version as On Stage. Mistreated a little short.

Re: Rainbow live Osaka 1976

mmm. i've ordered it but it's not arrived yet. Wish i'd seen this before i did.

An Amazon review.

If this had been pristine A+ sound and without any gaps I would have given it 5 stars however as it has the giveaway background hiss of an FM broadcast and as there are gaps both at the start and end of each track I've docked a couple of stars? gaps are not so much of an issue if it had been a studio release but a bit of a pain with it being live. I have since saved it into my burning software to remove all the gaps (took about 30 minutes in total) and then saved to my hard disc to play it seamlessly which showed up the issue of no introductions as not all the songs flow into each other.

Is this really an offical release? The audio of most of NEW boots are taken from youtube. They try to create beautifully designed covers. So they make their Money.

Ok. Listening to it now.

First off the track listings on Amazon are different to that on the album itself.

Anything below with an * isn't shown on the CD

Disc: 1
  1. Monitor Check*
  2. Opening*
  3. Over the Rainbow*
  4. Start*
  5. Kill the King
  6. Mistreated
  7. Greensleeves
  8. 16th Century Greensleeves
  9. Prelude in C Major*
  10. Catch the Rainbow
  11. Purple Haze
  12. White Christmas
  13. Lazy*
  14. Man On the Silver Mountain

The CD track listing has;
MOTSM
Blues
MOTSM 2
Starstruck
MOTSM 3

Mistreated and MOTSM (which really starts with Purple haze) are as per the "A Light in The Black" box set.

The rest of Disc 1 has been widely available on bootleg before; For example MOTSM-on stage outtakes, KTK, Mistreated, MOTSM -Broadcast 1976 and All of Disc1 Rainbow 9th December

Disc: 2
  1. Forty Miles of Bad Road*
  2. Tequila*
  3. Medley
  4. Keyboard Solo
  5. Stargazer
  6. Still I'm Sad
  7. Keyboard Solo
  8. Drum Solo
  9. 1812 Overture
  10. Still I'm Sad
  11. Over the Rainbow
  12. Announcement*

All of disc 2 is new to me at least and Stargazer is amazing. At the end of Ritchies solo rather than do the sonic blitz as per the Live in Germany set he just does some really gentle picking which is just amazing. Only RB could do that.

The gaps between tracks are a bit annoying. So for example Purple Haze runs into White Christmas on the bootlegs i have but here there a short gap of "dead air". Any between song chat has gone also.

That said the sound is pretty good to my ears and Ritchie is on fire.

Worth it for Stargazer.

Now trying to decide whether or not to get the Bonnet set from 1980 which is also supposed to be soundboard radio broadcast and one which i've never seen or heard before.

Thanks for the info, Perfectly Strange. I will be buying this one. One can't have enough of '76 Rainbow.
