The 25th Anniversary of Steve Morse in Deep Purple
It was November 1994 when Steve Morse joins Deep Purple! Longer than Ritchie Blackmore!
He recorded 6 studio albums, released many live albums, performed with the band more or less a thousand times.
You really did changed the sound Deep Purple. Congratz on the 25th year!

It could easily be said that SM saved Purple. Certainly the situation after TBRO was not sustainable, and SM brought so many fresh idea's with him that the band was rejuvinated.
In my eyes he is a great guitarist.

Re:
When it's about guitar in Deep Purple, of course my idol will always be Ritchie Blackmore. But that doesn't prevent me from having lots of respect to Steve and his contribution to the band.
I don't know him personally, but I think he's a real gentleman. He honoured Ritchie by playing his Smoke solo note for note at the infamous HOF ceremony. And the way he plays the Blackmore stuff shows his respect for him, although there are some songs in which I don't really like how he plays them. I think there's one thing he and I have in common: We're both Blackmore fans.
I wish Steve all the best, especially health wise. If he wants to be the last guitar player in DP, I've my fingers crossed that his wish will come true.

A very pleasant and charming guy by all accounts. Should try to learn guitar.
