Jon Lord also brought the best out in Morse in my opinion. Because when Lord left in 2002, something changed in Morse's playing. His soloing became a bit one dimensional in the improvised sections.

Hmm not sure about that with Blackers ? I do think Jon and Ritchie were a truly awesome combo but for me Blackers brought the best out of Jon not the other way around? For me Blackers absolute prime was probably MK4 DP through Dio era Rainbow, so partly with Jon but also a good part without Jon.Agree though that SMs playing went downhill after Jon left.

just read a lot of reviews from the show and whilst some are critical re DC looking like Ken Dodd or Susan Boyle emoticon a few saying his voice wasn't great but far more are saying Whitesnake were brilliant and DC had the crowd in his grasp?

Woeful indeed:

The band is hot. TA has more energy than most drummers half his age. Dave doesn't sound good at all. It is hard to tell if what is left of his voice will hold out going forward. Pretty grim. emoticon

He looks more like Christine Lahti. The band was hot, Dave was not. Oy! emoticon

yes it is indeed a brilliant album and both Jon and Paicey were brilliant on it!as they were on the tour ,Jon in particular trying to fill out the performance for the wasted out his head TB.
They were also great with PAL

RBR,Rainbow Rising and LLRNR were great albums too but i dont think Jon played on them did he emoticon and Blackers was astonishing live in that period.
One could say that Jons level dropped in Whitesnake where he was more of a backing musician and then we saw the real Jon again when he reunited with DP.
Ritchie on the other hand was great in the studio but sh!t in the main live with the reunited DP (pretty much until Gillan left). So Jons presence didn't do much for him there?
In retrospect maybe they had very little influence on each others performance levels? emoticon

The band are bloody awesome ! DC vocally is where he has been for over a decade ie way below where he was in his prime but i dont see any huge drop in level over that period? or indeed in this clip?Weve been talking about this on here for a decade now, it is what it is, personally i still love Whitesnake as a live act even with DCs limitations ,the band fill in vocally for him very well.

I will agree here, light. The band does cover him vocally. It would be pretty grim if they didn't. This is something that DP doesn't do for Gillan. Mostly because they can't, so we have to hear that vocal killing spree every show. Maybe some back-up singers off to the side, like in some of his solo stuff, would help. emoticon
