And he would deserve it.

Does Ezrin also ask Morse to double the solo with a strat to give it a certain sound, i would have told him where to go at that stage.

I did listen to Mr Big's "Defying Gravity" for the first time and after just listening to Side A. The guitar solos of Paul Gilbert blew me away, even the acoustics hit me like a rock.

After listening completely to two Morse-powered DP studio albums, I'm still waiting to be blown away, instead it bores me, the songs were good, the albums are very good, but the solos is like I'm on a very quiet beach and relaxing.

As someone who actually likes SM (despite being called a Blackmoron and anti SM) I can understand your point a little. I like SM's playing very much, but I have to admit to rarely liking him soloing.

Perhaps that's one of the reasons why I like NW so much - it has more keyboards and less guitar than the other albums.

Morse is DP's guitarist for abot 25 years now, how many memorable guitarsolo's can you name?

If Ritchie played like he is playing now… I think that nearly everyone with strong character would require Ritchie to work, rehearse and practice! I think that when Ritchie mentioned he asked Glenn for bass duties, I think Glenn would crucify him for his present sloppy lazy playing.

I mean, you present it like negative thing. When Roger was asked by Bob to play with legendary Fender bass (which is contained on all Ezrin albums since The Wall) instead of his own basses he didnt take it as negative. I mean - when band member isnt able to subordinate to interest of the whole band, it´s simply wrong.

BTW - if you ask someone like Ezrin to produce your records, you listen to him! Ezrin is that type of character who is not afraid to go into confrontation with anyone. I remember interview with Waters and Gilmour - both were about how much "in" process Ezrin was. It´s his style of work and you probably get him because of that. It´s almost direct opposite to how people describes the recent work of Rubin - who isnt in studio for most of the time and he just appears occasionally during whole sessions.

Re: New Album underway!!

Ezrin would have nothing negative to say about Ritchie’s current studio playing - I doubt anyone would have a problem with his playing on WFAS, BSOTF or TS, really.
What people criticize are the band sound and production - rather, the absence of a band and cheapish sounds.
But that is precisely the producer’s job, which Ezrin would no doubt handle differently. But what does that have to do with Ritchie’s spotless studio playing? Because it is spotless - it may not be groundbreaking or jaw-dropping, but it’s no less good.
