Joe Satriani - Crystal Planet

By chance I started listening to this one at YT. Initial reaction is WOW!
Is it as good as it sounds?

I remember really liking it when it came out but it was shortly after that I had a slew of cd's stolen and that was among them. I just never got around to replacing it.

I have a hard time telling one album from another in the later releases from Satriani.

I can't say that any of them has been a big Wow or a big crap.

When I listen to one of his albums it's generally "Flying in a blue dream", "Time Machine" or "Joe Satriani" or one of the G3.

That's my issue too. CP was the last album I bought. I've heard the ones that came after it but just never bought them. I thought everything leading up to CP was great though, especially the Red album and Surfing.

Yes........

"House Full of Bullets" on repeat button.

Please, watch the live video of "House Full of Bullets" from the "Live in San Francisco" DVD, just wish I could play like that, brilliant.

I have seen Satriani twice live, once opening for Dream Theater, once opening for DP. I can honestly say he is the most boring highly talented person I have ever seen. I have Crystal Planet, and I don't think I could get through more than two songs before being bored. I know some people love his playing, but damn, bores me to tears.

I would put them in the same general category. I just can't do the whole endless soloing disguised as songs thing. They have each done well in a more traditional band scenario, bot their own stuff? Yawn.

I too, have a hard time with these instrumental albums.
And initial feelings about CP faded soon.
