Re: Mark IX?

If they are going to finish at the end if this tour then, and not carry on without Morse, do people on here think there will be anything special for a final gig?

Who knows, but I seriously doubt it. I belive it will end with this line-up definitely.
To organize something with Ritchie would probably just be to difficult.

Yes, they will replace Space Truckin' by Highway Star. Or vice versa.

Question is, is there enough interest for something "special" at this stage?
Even the "hardcore" fans seems uninterested these days..
It would be great if they decided to do something different but..

Can't ever see them doing anything different? Have you seen the setlist from the US tour, they seem completely un-interested in changing anything these days. As you said above, even the fans don't seem motivated about a "special" ending.

I belive the endless touring have killed the excitment about seeing Purple. More than the setlist. But since they still pull a decent crowd, why not do it?
Imagine if they would not have toured for 10-15 years, like Sabbath. Interest would be much higher.

I don't think that this is the point. I guess it's rather because there is nothing changing with them any more. It's been the same since Airey joined in 2001. Whether they do 20 or 200 shows a year doesn't matter to most people because they just go see them once anyway.

The endless touring with the same setlist has killed any excitement around DP.

The setlist is what's keeping me away. I'll just save my money and stay at home and listen to MkII in their prime play the songs instead of a tribute band.

While you’re all bitchin’ ‘bout how unexciting the band are today, they’re having the time of their lives! They are doing what they love the most. Who else here can say they do?
