Versions of the band seen and wish had seen?

Thanks for the comments in the recent threads I started - it's been great to read the views of fellow Purple fans.

Seeing as many people on here seem to have a long history of Purple fandom, I wondered which versions of the band you had seen and which you would have loved to have seen if possible?

For me - only seen Mark 8, once - last year in Madrid and loved it. Been a big fan since probably the late 90s but it was the first time they had played in a place I was living so it was a really exciting concert for me. Thought they were amazing and went away with a really good opinion of Steve Morse.

Would love to have seen - Mark 2 circa 1972 with Blackmore and Lord and the whole band at their peak.

I have seen the band five time, all Mk7/8

1998 Abandon tour with Dream Theater and ELP, Mansfield, Mass
2001 Coheadlining with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mansfield Mass
2002 Dio/Purple/Scorpions, Gilford NH
2004 Thin Lizzy/Satriani/DP, Boston, MA
2017 Edgar Winter/Alice Cooper/DP, Mansfield, MA

First four were excellent, the 1998 show was outstanding. Last one was ok.

And since I grew up with DP as a teenager in the 70's, I wish I had seen them back in the Mk2 era, but that was not to be.

Wish I could have seen Mk III. I'm on the fence about Mk IV; some Bolin shows were sensational, some were shambolic. I saw Mk II a bunch in the 80s; wish I could have seen them in '93 because that's probably the best they'd played since the 70s. Saw MkV with Joe Lynn Turner once and the band performed spectacular and Joe was great on the Slaves & Masters material but some of the Purple material wasn't so hot.

I haven't seen Purple live since '02 and I'm fine with it seeing as how they're just a tribute band now. They just played two shows in two different cities in Michigan and I had friends go to both shows and they said Gillan's voice was shot both nights.

Twice in 1987 in two consecutive days (Milan, Sept. 1 and 2) for their first dates in Italy since 1973, then in the Summer of 1988 and for the 1993 tour - all MKIIb/c.

Then once with Morse and Lord, and twice with the current lineup, for a total of seven shows.

I wished I had seen all the previous marks, honestly - but if I had to choose two, it would be MKIIa and MKIII.

`96 Glasgow, impressive, much better than expected, wish Blackmore was there although Morse was excellent. Managed to see Blackmore the year before in London, and have seen him live four times with Rainbow and BN, but maybe should have made the effort to see the early 90`s DP...

I've seen every mark since 1985.

I wish I'd seen all the others, and of course MKII at their prime. (but then I'd be much older :-) )

Re:

Same as purpletemple ie every mark since the reunion, highlights were the TBRO tour(closest they got to 70s level IMHO) and the Abandon tour which was the last truly great DP tour IMHO.Havent seen them since the orchestral tour 2011 which i only went to because i thought it would be a bit different from the same old same old which i had grown bored off,and thankfully it was a bit better.
