Re: COMPLETE st petersburg show on youtube

All of our heroes from Mark II are old, or in the case of the great JL, gone. None of them can perform anything like they could in their heyday, but on the odd occasion they play something that makes your heart stir.
The Rainbow shows haven't been anything like the 70's or the 90's, but I for one have heard the odd moment where I think " that's Ritchie".
Maybe we should all make the best of what we can from all of them?

I completely agree. There's always some magic when I listen to them doing what they do now.

I saw Ian Paice (w/ Purpendicular) recently, and it was a great feeling, and I guess it would be the same if I had the occasion to go to a Rainbow show.

I saw DP in Birmingham in November 2017. Of course they are nothing like the MIJ version of the band, but I was strangely warm to them. They were doing what they do, and there were odd moments that took me back to my youth that I thought were just great.

I haven't been to see Rainbow on these recent tours, but I have seen clips on YT where there has been the odd flash of magic. Not for 90 minutes every night, but just enough for me to view the shows as worthwhile.
