What are your thoughts?
I was looking forward to this but overall a bit disappointed.
Warrior, Take me to the church, anchors away and last supper are good. But the Gary Garden tracks arn't great with the worst track on the album being messing around and the rather pointless instrumental salvation.
I've not had the latest saxon album off play, but this is a real disappointment. Not even a stand out track like Vigilante man on it.
There's no fluency on the album.
The concept idea is great.
Sadly they should've just left this as the live experience as the live album & DVD are great.

Well, I've only listened to it once so it's maybe early to say but the first impression is that it's a decent, not particulary great, one. Like you say, the idea is a great one and I don't have any problem with the vocalists, rather I can't stand all that generic double bass drumming. It's more limited, compared to "Spirit on a missiomn" but still I find it kills the dynamics of a song, almost like a drum machine. Anyway, overall I think there are at least 4/5 good tracks. Maybe it will grow.
Our Doogie does good and I think his vocal melodies are the most inspired of the album.

Yes the Doogie tracks are the best along with the McAuley tracks. Like you say its early impressions & maybe it will grow like the new Magnum album has grown on me.

Well, Magnum is a band I adore. The new one is indeed a grower. At the moment, I find it a couple of songs too long (the title track and another one in the second part of the record) but still consistent. After a couple of years I haven't tired of "Sacred blood divine lies" yet, still listening to it.
