I was referring to Wojak's post where he felt DC sounded great in Mistreated.

I apologise. Read it wrong!

Re:

finally arrived today. quick thoughts after a few songs on the blu ray...

*sound quality is superior to any online format. this alone should be reason to get it. cannot compare the soundtrack to what you get on spotify for instance. almost two different albums.
* video quality suffers from some low quality camera angles, and what's probably a deliberate move to make it look a bit hip and trendy. (in a terrible 1992ish kind of way..). In this department, Made in Japan is much much better
* DC sounds decent enough on some stuff, while he struggles with other stuff.

I would urge fans to buy this. To convert a non fan though, this is not the way to go. Hammersmith 2004 is the benchmark for live videos in Whitesnake World. (annoying effects there as well, but....)

Re: The Purple Tour Releases

I propose an a cappella sing-off between Gillan and Coverdale.

Either way, I've listened to a few of these tunes. YKOM is pretty grim. The guitar players do more singing than Cov and better, too. Mostly, Dave sounds like a cat caught in a leg-trap. He has a couple of OK screeches here and there, but for the most part, no. He moves around and makes a lot of faces, though. Not good. emoticon

good god why???? they are BOTH well past it, and should have given up years ago.DC at least can still physically perform ,and still looks like a rock star, but thats little use when the voice is not there to back it up.Having said that i would still go and see Whitesnake before the current touring band calling itself DP

interesting debate actually.

Haven't seen Whitesnake since 2008. But Deep Purple 2017 blew Whitesnake 2008 of stage. By a mile imo.
I would also argue that Gillan 2017 was overall better than Coverdale 2008 (the two concerts compared)

Just goofing on that one. Which one would cause you to stab your eardrums with skewers to stop the pain? Probably the first one to hack something out. Oy! emoticon

Re: The Purple Tour Releases

Finally picked this up, the 1cd/1 blu-ray version.

Watching the blu-ray right now and loving the sound. Yeah, there was obviously some studio work at play here but for what it is and at the price it was, I'm happy with the purchase. I bought it strictly from a completist standpoint but I can certainly see me watching this over and over again. Wish there would've been more Purple tunes included but aside from that, for $16 I'm happy with it.

And it's had pretty universally good reviews online by buyers, so I think I must be in the minority in finding this a difficult listen. Perhaps I've accidentally been sent a version where the vocals HAVEN'T been re-recorded emoticon
