Collecting Deep Purple studio albums on vinyl

When my order online of three vinyl studio albums of Purple arrive this month, I will have all their studio albums in brand new vinyl format (mostly reissues), except "Abandon" and "Bananas", which I'm planning to display on my wall.

#1. As far as I know or to my knowledge "Abandon" is not yet released on vinyl format. I hope EMI would do it in the the future.

#2. "Bananas" is still available on vinyl format, but the price is expensive that a low income dude like me would go broke if I bought this. EMI should also reissue this at a cheaper price and also maintain the gatefold sleeve.

#3. A Purple album containing all non-studio album tracks like the Beatles' "Past Masters", it's like this.

If you have all the Beatles 13 studio albums, just buy the "Past Masters" and you have "most" of their studio tracks. If you have all the Clash studio albums, just get the "Black Market Clash" and you have most of their studio tracks. Got all the three Nirvana albums, get the "Incesticide".................and so on.

In Deep Purple case, buy all the 20 studio albums and get the compilations, anniversary edition, deluxe edition, remastered expanded edition, EP, single, box set, etc., and you get "most" of their studio tracks. emoticon

I wanna listen to "First Sign of Madness". Just get the "Now What?! Gold Edition".
Hey play "Freedom". Put the "Fireball: Anniversary Edition" on the player. emoticon
I wanna hear "Slow Down Sister". Find the "S&M: Deluxe Edition". emoticon

What do you think? Do you collect DP on vinyl or CD?

as someone who prefers vinyl, I'm still angry that I didn't pick up Bananas when it came out...supposed to be superior sound quality compared to the cd

The majority of my DP collection is on cd but I do have a few on vinyl;

Long Beach '71
Machine Head (clear vinyl remastered)
Graz '75
Perfect Strangers Live (came with 2 cd's, 1 dvd)
Now What?!

I was going to get Infinite but I didn't see the point since I dislike the album so much so I'm just sticking with the cd/dvd package.

Now the worst artwork sleeve in Purple history which is "Bananas" is now most expensive and as far as I know it is pre-owned or second hand. When I saw the price, I almost fell out of my seat. 🙂

Vinyl simply offers a greater experience. It's wonderful it's popularity is growing.
My Deep Purple vinyl collection is by far complete due to a boring fact called economical reality, but I'm very happy for the following:

Deep Purple (third album)
The Singels A&B's
The Concerto
In Rock
Live In Scandinavia (Stockholm 1970)
Fireball
Made In Japan
Who Do We Think We Are
Burn
Stormbringer
Live In London
Powerhouse
Perfect Strangers
House Of Blue Light
Nobody's Perfect
Slaves&Masters

Comment on Slaves&Masters, musically it may not be Deep Purples strongest output, but the vinyl sound quality is outstanding (to my ears and taste). Label this AOR, I still have heard but a few other albums in this genre sounding this good. I'll encourage anyone not to judge this album until one has heard the vinyl.

I also have all their 20 studio albums on CDs, but having the vinyl format is something like magical, you have the gatefold, the big artwork sleeve, it's cool to look at and I'm planning to display all the 20 studio albums on the wall.

My problem with the CD format is two of my Purple album is that the aluminum or the silver coating is slowly chipping away, as of now it sound okay, I hope it won't affect the sound in the future.

Get the vinyl albums while you still can before it becomes a "Bananas", which is expensive and pre-own only. 😭

The classic albums (1968-1975) will have no problem in the future, in my opinion they will always reissue these albums, but some of the Mark Morse will be hard to find in the future, that's my opinion only.

Tried to collect every song released, so I am missing Abandon and Things I Said (that has been dropped from every vinyl format of RSD releases in the latest years)
Any Fool Kno That is included on the new Best of collection but I don't think I will buy that and rather wait for a Abandon reissue.
This collection includes albums, singles, collections, 25th anniversary editions and a unofficial release, all on vinyl.
I also skipped some of the latest live albums.
Other things that should be on vinyl is Strangers in us all and pictures within

From WDWTWA up to TBRO I bought all releases on vinyl the day they were released. From SODP up to MiJ I bought before WDWTWA but not on the release day.
from NW and Infinite I bought the vinyl (or boxset) also. from _|_, Abandon, Bananas and ROTD I only bought the cd's. Maybe I'll get some with X-Mas as they are on my wishlist.

Re: Collecting Deep Purple studio albums on vinyl

It's almost 20 years since the release of "Abandon", I wonder why the record companies did not bother to release this album on vinyl format?!

I mean it's a Deep Purple album, why?!

To my ears and eyes, MUSIC ON VINYL did a good job on "Purpendicular", "S&M" and "TBRO", the packaging is good, except I just wish that the double "Purpendicular" would be cooler in gatefold sleeve.

MOV should do it, if the record label is not interested in the reissue of "Abandon" and "Bananas" on vinyl. It's about time!
