I love NW!? but I don't think Hell To Pay is a very strong song emoticon

'Hell To Pay' is just OK. The chorus has a 'Kentucky Woman' kind of feel. 'Kentucky Woman, dah dah...'
'There's gonna be Hell, dah dah.....'

That is just the way I hear it, anyway. emoticon

Hell To Pay might have been a good song for Abandon, Bananas or ROTD but on NW it can't compete with the other songs.

I think Now What?! really needed an uptempo rocker like "Hell To Pay"....perhaps, that's why it's there. emoticon

Within 10 0r 20 years nobody , except people like PTR, will reminiscence of the Morse era.

We ll cherish the real purple years and admit that everything after purpendicular was just trying to make money.

I think that everyone who became fan during "later" era will value that period and it´s pretty lots of people and being politically very incorrent, I think that in 2 decades (2037?!)- maybe there will be more of these people than fans who discovered DP at the beginning of the band in late 60s early 70s.

well doh !!! emoticon thats hardly rocket science mate emoticon of course people who discovered DP back in the day (who will be in their 60s today maybe even 70s?) possibly won't be around in 20 years time.
whereas youngsters like you who don't actually know the REAL DP will still be around .
Historically though it will of course be the 70s output that DP will be remembered for and of course the PS era .The rest is irrelevant to all but you and your mates.

Well, this assumes that everyone who is below a certain age and goes to see them live prefers the current lineup...in which case, kudos to DP for challenging the audience and playing all those old hits no-one in the audience of 18-year olds can stand

...ptr, I suspect you will be in a minority even when all of the older fans are gone;-)

Re: MK I vs Current line up

In Germany DP will be remembered as a band that existed over 5 decades. And in those decades they managed two have two number one albums in a row twice: In their first and in their last decade. Astonishing: Three of the band members were the same in both cases ...

Friedhelm, even in Germany there are people who don't care about chart positions. If I did, I would have to go see Helene Fischer.

I'm curious about how DP will be reviewed when it's over. Perhaps you'll be right, perhaps those will be right who still consider In Rock, Machine Head and Made In Japan being the kernel of the DP legacy.

I´m not saying that IR, Machine Head or Made In Japan arent kernel of DP´s legacy, they ARE, but it´s NOT the only valuable and important thing they came up with - that´s where some of us are on disagreement!
