Re: Birmingham on CD now
There was some sort of irony present but Inconsistent still has some meaning while in context of last 3 shows they were quite opposite of inconsistent

Re: Birmingham on CD now
You can listen to this entire CD FOC on Spotify
Its all there to hear and seems vey much like the clips from youtube. Blackmore plays good and bad in parts, the band are fine, nothing wrong with them at all. Some songs lack the punch you might expect but that's how they have played them, so its fine.
No overdubs which is really good, at least it is as it went.
Worth buying ? Yes if you want a CD to add to your collection. If you just want to hear it use Spotify.

Re:
just got the cd. Have listened to it on spotify a few times, and the cd version is another step up in quality.
as is almost always the case with spotify VS cd, the latter offers a bit more balance and detail.
Still a soundboard recording, but if you feel like this one should be in your library in some form, the cd is the way to go.

Re: Birmingham on CD now
Saw this on the CD shelf and in a moment of madness................... bought it.
Only listened to the first 2 tracks Highway Star and Spotlight and during the solos and most of the rest of them, Blackmore is lost totally lost in the mix, so much so I wondered if maybe the CD was faulty, but I suspect it isn't. Perhaps it gets better as it goes on. Ronnie has serious pronunciation issues with Highway star, so I'm sure he seems way better heard live than recorded, where this becomes much more pronounced!
Biggest disappointment so far is that the "star" of the show is barley audible so far, perhaps it gets better, but basically currently it's a Keys, Bass, Drums and Vocal fest with not much guitar.
Also on the opening track HS, in what can be heard of our "star" he f*cks up all over the place, it's really not especially good at all.
