Re: Memories in Rock / First Trailer / Black Night
Hi everyone,
Well, I’ve been itching to hear what a well recorded version of these shows might sound like, from the minute or so I saw this morning it sounded and looked pretty good......jens keys pleasing...

Re: Memories in Rock / First Trailer / Black Night
Unsurprisingly Purple tracks turned out the most boring moments of these shows. Why Edel/Eagle Rock choose to promote the DVD via Black Night? I don't get it. They should rather choose much better moments like Catch the Rainbow or Mistreated where Ritchie felt much more comfortable.
The visual side of the recording is a different story. It looks really good.
Oh... I'd love to hear different interpretation of Black Night but sorry, there's nothing new in this version of the song. Sounding tired and unrehearsed has nothing to do with i n t e r p r e t a t i o n. Jazzy feel? It's got nothing to do with jazz too.

True. If they would have released 16th Century Greensleeves for example, everybody would have said: Wow, great.

Re: Memories in Rock / First Trailer / Black Night
They don’t want to give away the good stuff straight away, it’s always lesser tracks used to promote these releases. Folk are so critical of everything these days, it’s just good to see Ritchie playing this kind of material for a change, rather than the touring band. And on that matter isn’t it great to see these songs sung by an amazing vocalist who can actually improve on the original recordings, witness for example Child in time! Sublime at both Loreley and the Genting arena in my view.
I watched the 16th CG from BB yesterday btw, the guitar break in the middle is pretty good, and long...3 minutes or so I believe.

Wow Romero improves Gillan and Dio original recordings?
Amusing. It is really interesting to see how different we hear the same minutes of music.

Re: Memories in Rock / First Trailer / Black Night
Romero sang Dio songs beautifully. Almost a clone. He did very good job on DC songs too. But he shouldn't sing Gillan songs. He's got a totally different tone. It wasn't good, to say the least.

Re: Memories in Rock / First Trailer / Black Night
as I was hoping, the production seems top notch!
weird that they chose this track; a purple track, and easily the most boring song on both nights

I think he was referring to the current status of Gillan's voice.

Re:
As "Gillan fan" I simply must say that even 70+ years old IG in recent shape is much better singer for his own (Mk2) stuff than Romero.
