Who's Next?
I'm not talking about my favorite album of the Who.
Which band do you will be inducted first or who has a better chance in the next ten or twenty years in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
David Coverdale's Whitesnake
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow
Ian Gillan's Gillan
Steve Morse's Dixie Dregs
I think Whitesnake has the best chance.

I hope it will be Rainbow with a performance of the new line-up at the HOF ceremony.
I don't really care about the others you mentioned. But of course, I would be happy for David Coverdale, too. Whitesnake is his "baby".

Re:
Whitesnake were by far the biggest band due to their hair metal days so probably have the best chance but I would love Rainbow to be inducted as for me Dio era Rainbow were one of the greatest hard rock bands ever.Gillan have no chance though I did like them at the time, they did some great albums but were a bit of a mess live.Dixie Dregs? I can't stand them but have no idea if they are highly rated or not ?

Absolutely no chance for any of those bands. None of them had any lasting impact here in the States, and it is the American Hall of Fame after all. I mean bands like ELO, Jethro Tull, and the Moody Blues have yet to be nominated, not to mention that mega-selling acts like Journey and Foreigner have not been nominated either.

I can't agree with you here. Whitesnake was huge and Rainbow, especially the JLT era did well here. Whitesnake made it real big in the MTV explosion. Their videos were pretty cool and quite popular. If Rainbow gets in, the JLT period will be a big factor. They were radio friendly, got a lot of airplay and were pretty good, which can be a big factor.
As for 'Gillan', not well known in the States. The rock stations played their stuff, but I can't remember much about them touring here. Huge, or at least really popular, in Britain, Europe and Japan, from what I can tell, but basically unknown here.
No way Dregs are getting in. Not before ELP, Nazareth, Triumph, Guess Who, Tull, Foghat, BTO, etc, get the nod.

Rainbow barely cracked the Top 40 here with Turner. The casual rock fans in the States don't even remember Rainbow, and that's not going to translate well concerning business for the suits running the HOF.
Whitesnake is universally loathed by the critics, and get unfairly lumped in with acts like Winger and Ratt in most people's minds. Yes, 1987 was huge, but its reputation has fallen drastically since those days, even among die-hard 'Snake fans.
And even if both bands were twice as successful as they were, the Hall still wouldn't give them even a glance. Not at least until the other bands I mentioned were at least even considered, and they haven't been.

Re: Who's Next?
Rainbow always had good airplay, cracking the Top 40 or not. Saw them a number of times and the concerts were always well attended. Snake was quite big. Considering some of the acts that are in the hall, I'm not sure if being loathed by critics matters too much.

Re: Who's Next?
Well, at least the only member who has played on all their albums, written most of the output and is the band leader would be there...

Re: Who's Next?
If any of those bands stands a chance it'd be Whitesnake and I'd say its slim to none and if they did get in which lineup would it be? The majority of the fans here in the States think 1987 is their debut. If they inducted the R&W lineup most people would be like "Who are these guys?"
I'd love for Rainbow to get in but the odds are even slimmer because no one lineup played on more than one release (with the exception of On Stage). Based on Ritchie's most recent interview on his feelings about the HoF, he most likely wouldn't even show up and he's the only constant member.
The other bands don't stand a chance in hell.
