Did Guthrie Govan ever play together with the othe guys? If not, how can we know who good they would be? Five good individuals don't necessarily form a good band.

In five years after couple of lineup changes, I will not remember which lineup of Whitesnake I have seen (which keyboard player and guitar players) - I know for sure that I´ll remember one thing - how much I prefered Tichy´s drumming during set of support group comparing to Aldridge´s performance. emoticon Also - what I do remember is drummer of Tina Turner and Joe Cocker - because in all cases it was Jack Bruno... and I liked his performance everytime!

What do you think of these ptr???

BAND NUMBER ONE:
Guthrie Govan - guitar
Ian Gillan - vocals
Roger Glover - bass
Don Airey - keyboards
Ian Paice - drums

BAND NUMBER TWO:
Ritchie Blackmore - guitar
David Coverdale - vocals
Roger Glover - bass
Don Airey - keyboards
Ian Paice - drums

BAND NUMBER THREE:
Steve Vai - guitars
Ian Gillan - vocals
Roger Glover - bass
Don Airey - keyboards
Ian Paice - drums

Which band do you think is better live or in the studio???

I like the 3rd one best to be honest.... I dont like Coverdale´s voice now.

As long as there is no moaning of Glenn, yeah its good.

The Mad Axeman for me is the second best hard rock guitarist, Ritchie is the greatest. The mad man will only last "one studio album" and hopefully "one tour" or less before he leaves the band, maybe less than a year, but that lineup will create impact and in my opinion that few shows will be much better and exciting than the hundred shows they will make with the boring Steve Morse.

I agree 100% Randys ,The Mad Axeman is my 2nd favourite hard rock guitarist too, he has that same at times ferocious attack but also that wonderful melodic quality that Blackers has and a similar unpredictable stage presence ,he is a far better fit for a hard rock band than the hugely gifted but unimaginative(for hard rock) SM.You are correct though it wouldn't last long before he and Gallons were throwing spaghetti about emoticon

Which lies did Gillan tell about Ritchie? Facts please, no interpretations.

He clamied that the 1993 shows with Ritchie were in half-empty halls (a quote is on English Wikipedia's article about DP) which is nonsense, see snakehead's entry. I don't know whether this actually is a lie because as you know, a lie means that someone tells something wrong knowing that it's wrong, but it's pure nonsense anyway (even ptr admitted that), and he keeps repeating that in countless interviews.
Perhaps he confuses it with the 1994 shows with Satriani - when I saw them in Dortmund, the hall was about half full.

The tour was going quite well, with virtual or complete sell-outs wherever we went (including the bigger venues - araound 13.000 at Stüttgart).

I was at the Oslo concert on the 15th of November 1993, and it was the only time I've seen a big portion of the hall covered with big, black blankets because of poor ticketsales. If I remember correctly there was about 6500 in the audience that night. I think the hall can take about 9000 depending on the size of the stage. By 1998 and the Abandon Tour the hall was almost filled to capasity. So I guess it wasn't all another Gillanish lie then?

All the German shows in 1993 were sold out, but the halls were half empty in 1994. So it seems that lies and truth depends on the country...

Perhaps they were sold out, but then only in the last minutes. I can testify to that as I went to both Mannheim and Stuttgart together with 2 friends and bought tickets at the events. I'm just struggling to remember if it was at both shows I got the tickets at the door.

I know for sure Copenhagen was sold out as I remember clearly buying the tickets on the street, after my booked tickets was cancelled because we were arriving too late.

I can't say anything about Kiel as I had the tickets on hand.

I remember I was at 11 shows in Germany in 1996 and only at 2 shows I had to buy tickets on the street, and the rest was only half full, and it was small halls, except for Munich (sold out).
