Maybe so, but they're terribly negative.

JLT's just pissed because Blackmore didn't want him in the band this time around, just like in the '90s. JLT went on for about a year during interviews telling us, the fans, that Rainbow were going to reunite. One thing JLT didn't learn while working for Blackmore, you gotta know when to STFU!! Funny that he is calling them a coverband considering JLTs history with a band called Over The Rainbow that he said was the real deal (Blackmore bloodline and all that crap). Guess he's still crazy after all these year emoticon

Those OTR shows were great.
Did you attend them? emoticon

Thank God, no! But I did see Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow back in 1995 and 1996. The 1995 show just blew me away. Almost on par with Deep Purpl MKIIc back in '93. G'damn, the explosive feel when they opened with Spotlight Kid!! Goosebumps and eargasm! That was a great version of Rainbow emoticon

Both gigs were at Sentrum Scene in Oslo, Norway. The '93 MKIIc show were at Oslo Spektrum, Blackmores second to last gig with Purple and his, so far, last Strat smash up.

About the Rainbow gigs, the '95 was the best. In '96 there was a fall out of power before the show, and the gig was delayed. Blackmore came off as being a little pissed, and cut the show short. The 1995 gig on the other hand was just plain amazing, and Blackers was at one of his peaks. My God, what a great guitarsound he had!!

I'm from Rhode Island but I'm posting from Amityville, NY - just caught Joe at Revolution Hall. Great time but ironic about his comments since no one in his band was "authentic" and they performed Highway Star, Man on the Silver Mountain and Long Live RocknRoll. Good show but definite "cover band". For the record, no flies or voices in my hotel room so far.

Not to mention he's done two covers albums...which isn't bad but if you're going to call someone out for being a cover band, you best not have said shenanigans in your past or future either.

I saw Rainbow in 95/96 too, both in Sweden.

95, at Cirkus Stockholm, as you say was amazing Ritchie in the mood to play, great atmosphere and sold out.

96 in Lidkoping was the opposite, Blackmore and Doogie White clearly at odds
with each other. A bad atmosphere and only about 1000 people in a place taking 4000-5000..

typical Blackmore, everything starts out well. new blood etc, then he finds things to get annoyed about or more accurately to sabotage. in this instance doogie's monitor levels. Almost getting back to the 93 Birmingham dvd scenario. ie wanting to end Rainbow to do BN. Hence the ridiculous contracts presented to Greg, Paul, Doogie after the Denmark gig in 1997.
