Re: Long Beach '71 released March 2015
Zeppelin never sounded this good. In fact, they really can't compete with MKII or MKIII when it comes to playing live.

Yeah, so true. My measure for low standarts is = c rappier than the guitar player in LZ on heroin. Great standart = as (near) good as RB on a great day.

Re: Long Beach '71 released March 2015
Bit unfair on LZ KF they were a truly awesome band as well with a great great drummer,
an absolute genius guitarist
a great singer and frontman
and JPJ is a truly great musician.
I still prefer DP but LZ are not legendary for nothing .Yes the drugs took a toll on JP no doubt but on form he was wonderful.

Re: Long Beach '71 released March 2015
Up through '73, Pagey was a beast! He wasn't in Blackmore territory, but I have numerous bootlegs from those tours and his "on" nights outnumber the "off" drastically. Once we get to '75, things get spotty as that's when the heroin enters the picture.

Re: Long Beach '71 released March 2015
We can't really denigrate LZ. Check out 'How The West Was Won'. They were rockin'. Unfortunately, Page got into the Smack and Bonham drank himself into a stupor and ultimately assumed room temperature because of it. They might not have been as good as the Purps were live, but they still kicked ass.

Re: Long Beach '71 released March 2015
DP must have spoiled me. I've had LZ bootlegs from the late 60's and early 70"s and gave them all away to friends of mine who were big fans of LZ because I didn't think they were that great. I bought the DVD set when it came out all those years ago and still haven't watched the entire thing. Concerning LB 71, Blackmore and Paice are on fire. Blackmore is really aggressive. Love it!!

Re: Long Beach '71 released March 2015
I apologize (sorry) if this is a stooooopid (stupid) question, but I haven't gotten one yet since so far in the USA it seems to be available only as a higher-priced import. Is it, or will it soon become, available in the USA as a lower-priced domestic (USA) version? Thanks to anyone who could let us know.

Hi, not a stupid question at all.
I don't know it for a fact, but it seems to me archive stuff like this *espeically* do not get but one release, and that is for the world. Because of the collapse of the record industry, very few shops would stock this kind of records even if there was a national / continental pressing. I would look for the lowest price at eBay. Pay special attention to the shipping costs, as I've noticed a trend with online sellers that the product is priced really low, but they look for an overhead with shipping costs.
In a nutshell: I would imagine the actual album costs the same for anyone, the shipping costs make the difference. I'm sure you can find a reasonably priced copy at eBay or Amazon marketplace.

It will eventually see release here, I'm being patient. We didn't get Graz right away either.

Re: Long Beach '71 released March 2015
Be patient, but do NOT miss this one !!!
Just listenening to the double LP version right now.
I can just agree with everything said so far.
I never thought I'd ever hear anything actually better than Made In Japan.
But this is.
Points aside, in the same store today I also found a well worn but fine Faces LP. I've been looking for one for years now, but albums are somewhat hard to find these days.
Also I return home today with both Tommy Bolin's solo albums on LP, Teaser and Private Eyes.
What a day!
