Yeah! Allman Brothers were one of the best bands around in the early seventies, but you know what? I think that the current line up is almost as good as the classic line up.

Derek Trucks is absolutly the best thing to happen to music in many years, and Warren Haynes has been a gift to the musicworld for many years. Oteil Burbridge is certainly the best, tecknically, bassplayer the Allman's had.

The problem, I think, today is that they make to little new music, so they are playing the old stuff a little to much (even if they change the set list extremely much compared to many other bands). Their last record, Hittin' The Note, was a musical highlight for me, and showed us that there is still life in the band. The songs work very well live, and they blend in with the old ones without any problem.

IMO The Allman Brothers Band is still unbeatable as a live attraction within their kind of music.

I haven't got a copy of the magazine - did "Strangers In The Night" make the top 10?

I just thought I'd point out that the list is alphabetical by band name, not in order of my personal preference(s). emoticon

Lake G - It's an online mag -> http://www.classicrockrevisited.com/TopLiveAlbums.htm

And yes, Strangers In The Night is (deserverdly) very highly placed in the writers and readers polls.

This is not an advert, but got an email and it seems many DP live albums are going pretty cheaply in CdOn.com campaign right now. For example, Made in Japan 2cd 5,95€, In Concert 1970-72 2cd 8,95€, Live in Japan 3cd 8,95€...

Agreed. To my ears, this is the best official post-reunion live release.

Although one certain vocalist tried to prevent its re-release claiming it's crap.

+1

In case of a house fire, out the door, I'd grab "Live in Japan" as 1 and Stuttgart '93 as 1A (Birmingham NEC could burn as far as I'm concerned). Anya still gives me goosebumps.

Re: Best Live Album

I love Stuttgart '93. CHoHW is collecting dust on my shelf...the boot In Your Trousers got a lot of attention from me as well.

MIJ deserves to be at the top of the heap. I've owned this album in so many variations; vinyl, cassette and several versions of cd: the domestic Warner Brothers issue, the Warner/Pioneer Japanese issue (Live In Japan), the 3 disc UK Live In Japan and the 2 disc UK remastered Made In Japan...whew! lol

My favorites (in no particular order):
Deep Purple-MIJ
           -Live In London (2 disc)
           -Stuttgart '93
Rainbow-Live In Nurnberg
UFO-Strangers In The Night
Scorpions-Tokyo Tapes
Free-Live!
The Who-Live At Leeds (2 disc Dlx)
Jimi Hendrix-Band Of Gypsys
Allman Brothers-Fillmore East
Frank Zappa-Roxy & Elsewhere
Thin Lizzy-Live & Dangerous (2 disc Dlx)
Cheap Trick-Complete Budokan
Cream-Live Cream Vols 1&2
Gary Moore-We Want Moore
Beck, Bogert & Appice-Live
Motorhead-No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith
