Rod?
As time is running out I never lost hope that one day we will see and hear from Rod as guest on DP tour.
I would love to see all of the DP members , Nick, David, Glenn, Jon, Ritchie, Joe jlt, Joe sat, performing with the current lineup as a honored cherished guests.
Ah I better stop dreaming and go to work.
Happy with all the music they provide.
Rod we miss you.

Re: Rod?
I guess you missed the 1980 DP reunion with Rod on vocals.

Re: Rod?
I know about that reun ion and the concert in Mexico etc. That was long time ego.
Time to forgive and forget after all besides Ian Paice there are no original Deep Purple members who founded the band in todays Deep Purple.
So yes Evan tried something , signed something but you know they are not getting younger and its time to let Rod re join the family is some way, and as a guest on a live show is one way to do this.
Jon, Ritchie, Rod, Nick and Ian could do a number of two, Rod and big Ian could do Hush , How about Lalena live :-).
Now they are with orchestra so how about April?
The to have Davis and Glenn join and do some numbers , this will be a smash hit performance and DVD to have to leave additional legacy.

Re: Rod?
After all, why not?
I mean they invite lots of people (ex purple or not) on stage, and they still play Hush every night.
This said, I get the feeling Rod doesn't want to show his face in public anymore...Sad thing, he had a good voice and Captain Beyond was amazing.

Is it known whether Rod Evans is still alive?

He appeared to be a few years ago. Someone wrote on some message board that he was now retired and wanted to be left alone from people trying to locate him. Evidently he used an assumed name to avoid people tracking him down.

Re: Rod?
The last thing I read was ex-DP roadie (?) Ian Hansford telling how Evans called him out of the blue. Apparently Evams gave very little information about his current life, and according to Hansford, "was bloody rude to my wife".

Re: Rod?
There was a reason Evans was fired. He had his fifteen minutes of fame, tried to rekindle it, rather unsuccessfully, found his own calling and wants to be left alone. Why not just leave him alone? As far as this silly dream of getting everyone together for a one off reunion concert going through the motions of past glories which could never re-materialize is just a waste of time. The only outcome would be that it would hurt the K-Tel sales of Smoke on the Water and the bank notes that keep this incarnation of Deep Purple away from the High Street Que.
Blackmore and Lord were the only smart ones to move on so that while this tribute band continues to tour the world playing kiddie versions of SOTW and promoting MH, RB & JL don't have to lift a finger while they get royalties from those two people that actually show up at the concerts and buy MH at the Corn Dog stand.

Re: Rod?
Indeed, if Rod wants to be left alone, we have to accept that.
And that "one off reunion concert with all living past and present members" won't happen anyway for reasons we all know.
